    "Pressure" (2011)

    Photographs

First images: The first piece involved me placing elastic bands over the face of models (who lovingly let me). This was to look into the idea of pressure and rawness of the skin, which was created from the elastic bands, but also to show their uncomfort and almost a struggle to create a 'deformed' portrait. Looking into ideas of beauty and what is socially beautiful.

Later images: I used a scanner to capture my face, and to focus on the relationship of the process and the body - looking into a enclosed environment to get an copied image of my face. I used movement in these images as a form of distortion, creating an abstract uncanny feeling toward them.
